In recent times, a good deal of anxious attention has been paid, all over the world, to the utter significance and direct influence of science and technology on our modern lifestyle. Twentieth-century is indeed identified as the age of science and technology. Moreover, the progress of any country in the contemporary world depends entirely or solely upon the improvement made by it in the field of technology. In this context, engineering education plays a meaningful and substantial character and its role cannot be excluded.
Of late, the Institute Of Engineering was the only institute responsible for imparting technological education in NEPAL. The position of this college in communicating engineering skill and manpower to our country is indeed immense and enormous. But through the changes of values in society and because of the increasing population, only one institution cannot fulfill the demands of any nation. It is because of these grave reasons that, in the recent past, a large number of private institutions have emerged in order to satiate the thirst of the country in the field of engineering education. Although, these institutions are trying their best to appease the technical manpower of the country, still they are far from reality, because they do not have the basic components of an ideal educational institute such as strong physical facilities as well as powerful and effective manpower.
It is not at all difficult to observe that, in the recent past, a lump sum amount of the country’s money was being drifted out of the country in the name of engineering education. It is indeed a bitter fact that our country lost a huge amount of wealth just for the sake of engineering education. It is with these facts in mind that a large number of engineering colleges from the private sectors have emerged in order to fulfill the needs of the countrymen within the boundaries of the nation.
Kantipur Engineering College, therefore, was established in 1998 at Kathmandu with a view to relieve these barriers. Kantipur Engineering College, abbreviated as KEC, is a private college affiliated to Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. KEC endeavors to fabricate accomplished and capable engineers proficient enough to face the dynamic changes of the present century at a relatively tenable cost. At present, KEC is offering BE program in Civil, Computer and Electronics under the rules and regulations of the Institute Of Engineering T.U. Besides, the college had in collaboration with the University of Belarus, started a BE program in Civil and Industrial Engineering under Extra-Mural faculty of the Polotsk State University, Belarus. KEC does also offer courses in Diploma in Computer and Electronics Engineering with the affiliation to Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
