FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (FOHSS): The main objective of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is to produce trained and specialized manpower in both basic and applied areas of humanities and social sciences. At present, there are 30 constituent and 184 affiliated campuses under this faculty. The number of affiliated colleges is increasing steadily. Deans’ office offers educational and academic cooperation to these campuses. There are twenty-one central departments with specialized study area. These include: Buddhist Studies, Culture, Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Home Science, Journalism, Library Science, Linguistics, Maithili, Nepali, Nepal Bhasha, Political Science, Population, Psychology, Rural Development, Sanskrit, Sociology, and Strategic Studies. Nine other subjects are taught at Bachelor levels only. These include: Dance, Film Studies, International languages, Mathematics, Music, Painting, Philosophy, Sculpture, Social work, Statistics, and Urdu. Among the subjects mentioned above statistics and mathematics are taught in collaboration with Science Faculty. The Faculty offers Certificate, Bachelor and Master Level courses in most of the areas mentioned above. This Faculty also conducts research methodology courses and offers supervision for full-time study leading to the Ph.D. degree. This Faculty also offers special one-year courses such as: Postgraduate Diploma in Womens Studies, Bachelor in Library Science, Postgraduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies, Postgraduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology, Nepal American Studies under the Central Department of English. This Faculty is running Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Development in collaboration with the University of Norogric, Norway and Ruhuna University (RU), Sri Lanka. This program is the first of its kind in the SAARC region. Meanwhile another new Master Program in Tourism is in the pipe line. Other details of the Faculty include: 1. The Deans office offers educational and academic cooperation to these central departments as well as to other subject that are introduced to Bachelor Level only in accordance with TU regulations. 2. The Deans office is also proactive in creation of Standing Committee, Subject Committee and Faculty Board of different disciplines. 3. When constituent or affiliated colleges propose to add new subjects, upgrade the levels and programs, the Deans office takes necessary steps and procedures to evaluate the capacity and capability. 4. Deans office also in cooperation of respective departments is in the process of introducing M. Phil. courses. 5. It conducts Ph.D. programs in coordination with Central Department and with the help of concerned specialists. FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT (FOM):
The objectives of this Faculty are: 1. to educate students for professional pursuits in business, industry and government; and 2. to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of business and administration. The Faculty of Management (FOM) has its ultimate objective of educating students for professional pursuits in business, industry and government. It is further dedicated to contributing to enhance the knowledge and understanding of business and administration. The Faculty offers instruction leading to Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS), Bachelor of Travel and Tourism (BTTM), Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Information Management (BIM), Master of Business Studies (MBS), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA) and M. Phil. The Faculty offers supervision for full time study leading to the Ph.D.degree. Programs offered are as follows: 1. Proficiency Certificate Level 2. Bachelors’ Level 3. Post Graduate Diploma 4. Master’s Level 5. M.Phil. 6. Ph.D. Programs in Business Studies

Post Graduate Diploma in Police Science FACULTY OF EDUCATION (FOE): The main objective of the Faculty of Education is to produce trained teachers, education specialists, education planners, supervisors, curriculum designers and educational administrators. The objectives of this Faculty are: To prepare trained teachers for the schools of the country. To produce teacher educators, education specialists, administrators and experts. To produce high-level research manpower such as M. Phil. and Ph.D. scholars. To conduct investigations, studies and researches that contributes to the betterment of the education system in general and teacher education sub-system in particular. To contribute to the growth and development of the education sector of the country. To provide expert professional and technical consultancy services to agencies/ organization/individuals working in different sub-sectors of the education system. To support the Ministry of Education (MOE) in policy development, planning and program evaluation. To work as a national forum for bringing about debates and discussions on topical importance together in order to address the critical educational issues. To share and disseminate educational researches an innovations by linking itself with related national and international organizations. The Faculty runs two types of academic programs General Education and Vocational Education. Under General Education, currently, the Faculty runs Two- Year Proficiency Certificate (I.Ed.), Three-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), One-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Two-Year Master in Education (M.Ed.) programs. The Faculty has also offered Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program of three years duration and M.Phil. programs of two years duration 1) Early Childhood Development Education and Primary Education, 2) Geography Education, 3) History Education, 4) Economics Education, 5) Political Science Education and 6) Physical Education Subject Committee. GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and RS (Remote Sensing) courses are introduced under the Department of Geography Education. Computer Science for Mathematics Education has been introduced under the Department of Mathematics Education.
FACULTY OF LAW (FOL): The basic objective of Faculty of Law is to produce high and medium level legal manpower to fulfill the demand of the legal professionals for the nation. The Faculty of Law offers three categories of academic programs such as: 1. LLB (Bachelor of Law) 2. LLM (Master of Law) 3. Ph.D. The Faculty of Law has its bi-annual research journal, Nepal Law Review. Faculty of Law organizes regular interaction programs for practicing lawyers, legal officers of the government agencies and the law teachers. Faculty of Law conducts mini research programs for the teachers and for the postgraduate students. Under the faculty of law two research organizations are in operation: 1. Human Right Centre 2. Environmental Law Centre They conduct regular seminars and talk programs. These centers have partnership with the Human Right Law Centre of Nottingham University of UK and the Social Policy in Law programs of the University of Washington in St. Louis, U.S.A.
