KATHMANDU, DEC 11 - Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Chhatra Man Singh Gurung left for India on Friday to receive title of Honorary General of the Indian Army.The government on Wednesday had given its consent to the CoAS to receive the title. Indian President Pratibha Patil is scheduled to confer the title of Honorary General of Indian Army on Gurung amid an investiture ceremony on Dec. 14.
The nine-member delegation led by Gurung will hold discussions with Indian Army Chief Deepak Kapoor, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar, Navy Chief Nirmal Kumar Verma and Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik, among others.
CoAS Gurung is scheduled to meet India's Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Minister for External Affairs S. M. Krishna, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and National Security Adviser M. K. Narayanan on Dec. 15.
The Army chief will inspect the United Service Institution and Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping and Defence Research and Development Organisation. He will be chief guest of the passing out parade of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun on Dec. 12 and deliver a speech at the Defence Service Staff College on Dec. 16
